About Me

My photo
Hi I'm Clare, I live in the South West of England in the seaside town of Torquay. I adore playing with inks, paints and generally getting messy. It is the calm place which fits in between my hectic life whilst working as an outreach support worker, looking after my son, daughter, foster son and hubby. Not forgetting our gorgeous springer spaniel, Suzi.

Step by step 'Bloom' canvas

Hi I'm back again and I just wanted to share with you how I made this canvas using stamps from Topflight Stamps.  Now this post is going to be very picture heavy as I took lots of different  stage photos as the canvas evolved.

I started of with a 6 x 6 canvas and covered it with tissue paper, very wrinkled, using matt medium.

Next I covered the whole canvas using black gesso.

Then I started to add colour by dry brushing onto the canvas.

Putting paint directly onto the canvas now, I wiped back through a stencil using a wet wipe.

Stamping onto more tissue paper with black ink, I heat embossed with clear embossing powder and carefully tore around the flower and sentiment.

I applied the flower  and sentiment to the canvas with matt medium.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit to my blog today?  All comments are gratefully received.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #40 Vintage

New month, new challenge!  Over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge we have all gone a little bit vintage!  Our sponsor for this month is The Funkie Junkie Boutique, who are offering an amazing prize. Our guest designer this month is Jenny MarplesPop over to the MMMC blog, check out the rules and submit your entry.

I chose to work with Distress Oxides for this project.  I built up my layers of distress inks using stencils and stamps from  Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz, Warehouse District Set.  I applied some layers of tissue tape before layering on some die cut cogs.

Using Prima Rust paste,  I painted the cogs to give them and old rusty look.

I really enjoyed playing along with this vintage theme.  Now it's your Turn!  Remember to check out the blog and check out the rules.

Put the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge picture onto your blog post
and link up your project to the challenge.

You could have a chance to win a prize from The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

Happy Crafting,

Clare.
