About Me

My photo
Hi I'm Clare, I live in the South West of England in the seaside town of Torquay. I adore playing with inks, paints and generally getting messy. It is the calm place which fits in between my hectic life whilst working as an outreach support worker, looking after my son, daughter, foster son and hubby. Not forgetting our gorgeous springer spaniel, Suzi.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #35 What's your Superpower?

A new challenge from Mixed Media Monthly Challenge!  What is your Superpower or what would you like it to be?  Well I know that speaking for myself, I would quite happily love the power to make time stand still to make way for some guilt free crafting.  I am one of those people, like many of you, that puts my family's needs before my own and this often leaves me with little time for myself to indulge in my crafty pursuits.

Our sponsor this month is Stampers Anonymous and up for grabs are some Brett Weldele products, which leads into our guest designer who is, you've got it, Brett Weldele!  With a view to trying something a little different myself I made time stand still for a couple of hours, using Brett's Jenny Sparrow stamps to bring to you my crafty make for this months challenge.

I started off with three tags.  Using gesso, I sponged through a stencil and dried off with a heat tool.

Using Distress Oxides on a craft mat I spritzed with water and mopped up the colour.  I love how the gesso stars begin to appear as you add the colour.

Once I'd achieved my desired colours I  stamped the images onto the tags in versafine ink.  Using some bleach mixed with water I bleached  out my chosen  parts of the image where I wanted the colour to disappear.

I blended some normal Distress inks in the corresponding colours around the outsides of the tags.

I added some black stamping using some stamps from Carabelle Studio to the edges and also created a background for my montage of of tags to sit.

Whilst I was shooting the photo's for my blog my daughter declared her love for my creation  and claimed it for her room!

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have enjoyed your visit?  So come on, what's your Superpower?  Pop over to the MMMC blog, check out the rules and show us your Super creations!

Crafty hugs,

Clare
