About Me

My photo
Hi I'm Clare, I live in the South West of England in the seaside town of Torquay. I adore playing with inks, paints and generally getting messy. It is the calm place which fits in between my hectic life whilst working as an outreach support worker, looking after my son, daughter, foster son and hubby. Not forgetting our gorgeous springer spaniel, Suzi.

Fishy Friend

This is an  unexpected blog post from me today.  It was one of those canvases that didn't turn out as expected.  I set off on a completely different direction to where I ended up but hey ho my journey changed and I arrived at my albeit altered destination.

I created my background using brushos, as it hadn't turned out as expected so I decided just to let loose and experiment.  I stencilled on some Dylusion paints and once dry I sealed it with a clear Matt sealer so that the brushos didn't react when I painted on top.

I drew the whimsical fish onto my canvas, applied a coat of gesso and proceeded to paint my fishy friend with Dylusion paints.  Once dried I added some details with Posca pens.

Thank you for popping over.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Happy crafting,
Clare X X.

A little bit whimsy

Hi bloggers I'm here today to share with you my latest entry into my large Dylusions journal.

I took my inspiration from Willowing.  You can watch her work on you tube and she offers online tutorials which I plan on subscribing to a couple at some point.

My main mediums for this project were Neocolour II crayons along with Dylusion paints.

Thank you for popping over today.  Back to work tomorrow so not so much free time to create.  I hope to see you all soon.

A Hearty Home

Good morning all.  I did say that I would be blogging a little more frequently!  Being on holiday seems to open my creative floodgates and once it's open I find it hard to stop.  At the moment I am wishing everyday were a holiday.

I'm here today to share with you a canvas which I completed yesterday.

I used Dina Wakely Heavy body acrylics along with a couple of stencils.

I am hoping for another couple of crafty days before I go back to work next week.  I will stop by and show you what I have been up to X X X

Playing with the crazies!

What better to do on a drizzly Sunday afternoon than a little bit of colouring in!  Except once I'd finished colouring in these crazy birds I couldn't help but turn them into some birthday cards.

Since I have been painting a lot my birthday cards box has somewhat depleted and needed to be replenished

I used distress markers to colour in my birdies.  With a mixture of my Tim Holtz layering stencils and some other favourites I distress inked my background.

I also added some darker stencilling and some black stamping.

To the eyes, beaks and wings I applied some glossy accents for dimension.

To finish off I doodled with a Posca pen.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit today?  If you have I love to hear your comments.  You can leave these below.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

A blooming busy day!

Ok so I've got the blogging bug this week!  I've got two weeks off and I have full intentions of making the most of it.

I've had a busy old day today all the usual chores,  out for a power walk with my daughter and a family gathering.  I even managed to squeeze in a bit of time in the craft room.  I took some inspiration from Donna Downey, her flower paintings really are amazing and I am often in awe of her work.

I had a canvas board which I had prepared with some texture paste and never got any further so decided to have a little play.  For my background I used Dylusion paints and inks.  I painted my flower with liquitex magenta quinacridone and Dylusion White linen.  The leaves were painted with cut grass layered with some other liquitex greens over the top.

That's it from me for today.  I hope to be back some time soon.  I love to hear your thoughts and comments.

Home is where my heart is at

Happy Easter to you all.  Well in true bank holiday style the weather is a tad damp so I decided to find my own blue skies.

I spent the afternoon Dylusion dallying  on a small canvas.  I then had a doodling frenzy. (My favourite part)

As I previously said I used Dylusion paints for this project and doodled away with my posca pens.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Wishing you all a happy Easter holiday.

Hugs,

Intuitive me

Hi folks, I finally feel like I'm on the mend and the lurgy finally leaving me so today I dug deep to look for some crafty mojo.

Following a class from wanderlust with Flora Bowley I encountered on some brave intuitive painting.  This is painting without anything in mind but just going with the flow.

I just basically went for it using my favourite Dylusion and Dina Wakely colours.  Me being me, I couldn't resist doodling in some details.

So here is the finished article.  Not sure if I can cope with painting so freely but I certainly enjoyed the process even though at a couple of points I nearly washed out my brushes and turned out the light in the craft room.

Thanks for stopping by today I love to hear your comments.

See you soon for some more crafty goings on.

Hugs,
